July’s Canadian ETF launches lean into income
Seven of the 16 funds carry income in their names; the rest are mostly equity.
ETF Express reported 16 exchange-traded funds launched in Canada in July, from 10 issuers. Income names dominate the tally. Seven funds put “income,” “yield,” or “HighPay” in their titles — Harvest’s International High Income Shares and Premium Yield Gold, Brompton’s Utilities & Infrastructure HighPay and U.S. Equity HighPay, Evolve’s Canadian Financials Yield and Canadian Utilities Yield, and Lysander-Canso’s Credit Income ActivETF.
Much of the rest is equity. Capital Group listed three Select ETFs, covering U.S., global developed, and international developed markets. Madison launched U.S. large-cap and mid-cap funds. IA Clarington added an International Multifactor Equity Fund, NBI a SmartData Canadian Equity Fund, and Guardian an i3 AI Technology and Innovation Fund. BMO’s Credit Stress Opportunities ETF arrived with two tickers, ZCDX and ZCDX.U.
A launch list is supply; flows are demand. The next set of monthly numbers will say which of these funds gather assets.
