MNGU brings 3x daily swings to a ten-name AI basket

BMO and REX Shares' new MicroSectors ETN ties 3x daily leverage to an equal-weight basket of ten AI names, with a reset that makes the 2046 maturity a short-horizon tool.

BMO and REX Shares have brought their AI trade to market in a form that triples the daily swings of a ten-name index, which makes the July 2046 maturity beside the point. MNGU, announced Aug. 26 and listed on NYSE Arca, seeks 3x the daily performance of the NYSE MANGOS+ Index after fees, charges, and the decay effect that comes with a daily reset. The index is equally weighted, tracking ten U.S.-listed companies its guidelines place in the top tier of AI importance, with Meta, Anthropic, NVIDIA, Alphabet, OpenAI, and SpaceX as the six anchors behind the MANGOS label.

ETF Trends first reported the launch, and the note, issued by Bank of Montreal, matures July 31, 2046. REX Shares COO Scott Acheychek said in the announcement that "a small group of AI companies have delivered an outsized impact on economic growth, technological advancement, and equity market performance over the past decade"; BMO Capital Markets Director Saurabh Kushwaha called AI "one of the defining themes of this generation." The product materials target "sophisticated investors," which here means investors who understand that a daily reset can make returns over any holding period longer than a day diverge sharply from three times the index's cumulative move.

The MicroSectors franchise now counts roughly 35 exchange-traded products and more than $9 billion in combined assets, according to the announcement, and MNGU is its first product linked to the MANGOS+ index. The launch follows a busy month for the pair: earlier this month BMO and REX Shares brought six country-leveraged notes to market, covering Brazil, Japan, and Taiwan.

The equal-weight construction means MNGU does not let the market's largest AI names dominate the return stream the way a cap-weighted fund would. But ten names is ten names, and equal weighting does not dilute the sector's concentration risk; the daily reset simply compounds their shared volatility.

A 3x daily reset is a trading instrument, not an accumulation vehicle, and the narrowness of the basket gives it the feel of a single-stock replacement with extra speed. The pair is selling precise exposure to a theme that moves in gaps, and the daily reset converts that volatility into a product that churns. The launch machine keeps running even as the shelf fills, and MNGU is another reminder that with leveraged ETPs, the product itself is often the innovation.
