VanEck ranks its own income ETFs by yield

A fund-family product list is more brochure than data, even when the yield math is standard.

VanEck published a top-10 ranking of its own income ETFs on ETF Trends' Beyond Basic Beta hub. The post came August 16. The sort key is 30-day SEC yield, the SEC's standardized, expense-adjusted measure for comparing bond funds. The yield figures are dated February 5. That is more than six months before publication.

The page is mostly disclaimer. Yield alone should not drive an investment decision, the text says; past performance is not a guarantee of future results. The document calls itself educational. That is a heavy frame for a list.

A self-sorted shelf

A fund family that ranks only its own products is arranging its own shelf. The standardized yield in each row is still useful to an allocator scanning income products. What the list cannot show in a single column is duration, credit quality, payout sustainability, or tax treatment. Those are the inputs that decide whether a yield is real.

The broader income backdrop makes the marketing push obvious. The S&P 500's dividend yield has fallen to 1.08%. ETF Daily's prior reporting calls it the lowest since July 2000. Options-income ETFs keep collecting flows. That same week, VanEck listed a space-industry UCITS ETF in Europe. Anyone consulting the ranking in August was looking at February yields.
